DAY TWO
After breakfast yesterday I went for a walk to the drugstore to find Lisa deodorant from Paris (upon request.......not that she needs it, France has the finest Fragrances in the world, including lotions, and all kinds of toiletries). Excited to see if I can find this french treat for her, I merrily walk down the street through little St. Tropez, looking at the fine art galleries, french cafes, shops, and quaint restaurants only the upper class of the world can afford. How lucky am I!! The afternoon slips by, getting lost in my own imagination. What would it be like if I lived here, flying around on my Vespa, petit chien (little dog) nestled in my lap, dressed to the nines, hand bag dangling from my left arm...... Vrooom! Vroom! Here I go!!
I was supposed to meet the gang at the beach at noon but, my imagination got the best of me and didn't get there until 3:30pm. Finally after a 15 minute ride to Pampellone beach, I walk into Club 55! THE PLACE TO BE!!! The scene of all scenes!!! Everyone is in their swimsuit couture!! Every person there is "Someone". I was told......Socialites that make Paris Hilton seem like wallpaper...Actors and Models with their plus 60, tanned, slick yacht owners trying to woo their young beauties. Plates flying, champagne glasses clicking, food I've never seen before including HUGE hand made cork bows FULL of WHOLE vegetables for every table!! Its the "Thing to Experience"!! Its their version of a SALAD! But the customers do the choosing and chopping right at the table! Fish and fruit like I've never tasted! I take a bite into a radish that was as juicy as a fresh nectarine, and the watermelon, was sweet, so incredibly refreshing and as thirst quenching as a glass of iced tea on a hot summer day. My taste-buds were having the time of their lives, they were dancing in the best night club in town!!!!
By the time we finished our 3 hour lunch, off to the beach I go! I lay out my towel on the soft clean Mediterranean sand, and slip off to sleep to the sound of faded french murmur, and the ocean waves lightly crashing on the beach, until 7:30pm!! Rest Rest.....I FINALLY allow myself to REST......... relaxed again peaceful, almost like I was on some kind of fancy mind altering drug.
Then off to the hotel to shower and meet for dinner at one of the most incredible Vietnamese Restaurants in the world " Le Banh Noi". Walking down little cobble stone streets, lit by the french street lamps, candles and flickering lights from the outside cafes, romantic moments between lovers at every glance. Watch out!! Duck your head to walk through the little door draping in vines and flowers, into one of the many beautiful restaurants that seat no more than 30 people.
More people join the table making 8 of us. I meet new people everyday! Sipping on wine, eating...it quickly becomes a feast, like new lovers in lust.....lost in the moment.....all of us lost in the moment...... laughing, forgetting all about our problems and life in our own countries. We all have our problems......but NOT on this night, NOT at this moment.
I decided to bring my CD. It was a request from the group, not to forget. The DJ took the CD and soon enough MY MUSIC is playing throughout this quaint romantic venue and all through the streets of ST. TROPEZ!! On my way out I asked for the CD, and without hesitation the DJ decided NOT to give it back because he absolutely LOVED IT!!! He bowed, and kissed my hand. "Merci madame".......... "Beautiful" he says.
I take a step outside, surrounded by sidewalk seating, candle lit lovers, I PAUSE, look back towards the restaurant take a breath.....and slowly memorize possibly one of the most amazing moments of my life. Listening to the sound of MY MUSIC, MY CD, "Everybody Here Wants You" fading as I walk away through the streets of St. Tropez.
