Well, I flew into Cheyenne yesterday, leaving LA at 6:00am! I had just enough time to land and get to set! Airplane seats have become my new bed!! So, running on no sleep is something I'm used to. I feel like a parent with a new born baby....very sleep deprived....except without the baby. It was snowing when I arrived, windy, cold, and even though I'm Canadian, I will never get used to the cold. All because you're Canadian doesn't mean you like the cold! Have you noticed how many Canadians flock to Florida every year? So off to the set from the airport I go. I met Francais and Bill Tormey, they are a military family and have moved 5 times in the past 16 years. Which might seem like a lot, but not long ago I was a struggling actress in NYC and moved 15 times in 6 years! I was an immigrant new to the US. I didn't have credit history, much money, just graduated from school, couldn't put my name on a lease so I had to sublet. Sublet to sublet and so on. Maybe one day I'll write about those days in a blog. All I can say is that if I could do it all over again.....I'm not so sure I would. My 20's was the most difficult time in my life. BUT....on the other hand, I am one of the lucky artists blessed to experience a wonderful career and life in the past few years. Most of my friends are still struggling. I thank God everyday for what I have and the crazy exciting life I have created. Last night was Rogers birthday, so we all dressed up in our cowboy best, ate dinner at Poor Richards and afterwards they went line dancing at the Outlaw Saloon!! I wasn't feeling too well and fell asleep the second I stepped foot in my hotel room! Today, we are all busy at work moving furniture, having fun with the 3 Ferrets and 3 cats, lots of commotion!! Roger is pacing back and forth making sure everything is running smoothly. I am furiously typing away. There are so many family members doing all the work! Its GREAT! Certa Pro painters just showed up to paint what we don't get finished. The first picture is Roger and I with everyone working in the background, and the second shot is my producer Lee Christofferson pausing for a moment from painting to cover up Chads butt cheeks while I take a photo.   Its FREEZING in here!! I am always complaining I'm cold and Roger is always saying he's hot so its a constant battle! Ha! Until next time....... Tanya
Arizona: SO, you'll never believe what happened to me while shooting in Arizona!! For the second episode of Sell This House in AZ, we decided to shoot the open of the show in the desert standing in front of one of the really tall Saguaro cactus! It was a great idea "in thought" I guess. I don't know if you've ever been to Arizona but the landscape is so foreign to me (coming from Ontario Canada) and no matter how many times I've been, hiking through the desert is like visiting Mars! My mom flew in to spend some time with me on this shoot, and she is such a nature buff, as am I, but I think she is a little more brave than I when it comes to hiking in the middle of nowhere. Anyway, back to shooting the opening of the show......so my producer Lee Christopherson had her eye on this 100 foot cactus a little ways up the side of the mountain. I have on my jeans, my favorite cowboy boots, a cute blouse and away I go! There were sharp, pointy, dry, things all over the place!! This kind of terrain seems to go against any kind of human comfort or survival in my mind. We weren't on any kind of trail, we are off roading it on foot in the DESERT!! So of course the goofball that I am, I decide to pull out my digital camera and take some behind the scenes footage of what's going on here. I have the camera in one hand, walking, talking and giving some commentary as I go. Well within 10 seconds of my wonderful bird brain idea I walk RIGHT INTO a cactus branch!!! The one that JUMPS right on you if you come close to it!! OMG!!!! I don't know if you've ever had 2 inch thorns wedged into your leg but I SURE DID THAT DAY!!!!!! Man did that HURT!!!!! The thing I didn't know is that they don't just come out if you pull on them like a regular needle....OHHHH NOOO, they have little tiny tiny like arrow like grooves and once they are in, they are REALLY difficult to get out easily!!! AND they hurt much more that I thought! At least this type of cactus did!! I will always remember out shoot in AZ as the one where I was attacked by a cactus!!! FYI...Roger was at the hotel sipping on a glass of wine!! Its a week later and I STILL have a big bruise on my leg!! Next, we are shooting in Cheyanne Wyoming!!! Now that should be interesting! Right now I am in Wilmington NC shooting Sell This House. Wilmington is such a beautiful quaint town with cobble stone streets, buggy and horse, and historic buildings that house coffee shops, restaurants, and the greatest little breakfast joints. There is this great clothing store on the corner of Dock and Water St, that I probably spent too much money in! But hey, I need three outfits per episode on Sell This House, so as far as I'm concerned I can never have enough clothing!! Today is Day Two, we are working on a historic home on the corner of 5th and Peabody St. Cheryl Preston wants to move to a bigger home, so even though she's only been here for 13 months...she's ready for more space. You see, Cheryl collects Antiques and can't help but buy more and more and more. I'm not an antique collector, so its a concept I don't truly understand. I'm not one for living in the past and collecting trinkets and things I'll never sell.. Its a fun episode so far! Rogers in a good mood, we just finished an interview and photoshoot with the Wilmington newspaper, everything is getting packed up and the movers will be here soon! Cheryl swears she makes the best black-eyed peas, so she's heating some up in the microwave! Roger first introduced me to Black-eyed Peas a few years ago when we were personally invited to Paula Deans restaurant in Savanna SC. (Little did we know she would take the Emmy from us last year 07' when we were nominated for "BEST LIFESTYLE PROGRAM.) Her food was good! I tend to eat on the healthier side, so all I could eat was corn on the cob. Southern cooking isn't my thing. BUT IF IT'S YOUR THING......YOU'LL BE IN HEAVEN if you visit her restaurant!!!  Two days ago on our day off Roger and I went down to the Java Java to get internet access, to do a fun live on line chat with the Washington Post! We loved talking to the fans of our show answering all kinds of questions! I mentioned our sound man KEVIN JOHNSON in one of my answers which put a big smile on his face! When someone is really good at what they do.....ya gotta give them the mention they deserve!! Kevin and I are constantly doing South Park impersonations behind the scenes!! Its GREAT! Goofy humor keeps me sane.....I can't get enough! I named my cat CARTMAN! Well, I gotta go, they need my help! Still more work to do! Rogers ordering everyone around again!! HELP!!!!! Xo Tanya
My whole life I've always wanted to make a difference in life. I honestly think thats why I decided to become an actress in the first place. As a child I always saw people in the media or on Television leading the way, or having the opportunity to reach out to the masses and send a message to make a difference. This year I was asked to be a celebrity spokesperson along with Alex Trebeck for WORLD VISION. This May I will be traveling to Cambodia to shoot a one hour special to help encourage people to sponsor a child, raise money for the hungry, and help STOP Human Trafficking. The TV special will air mainly in Canada on all the major networks. I'm very honored to be a part of such an amazing organization and be an influential part of their purpose. Along my journey, I am also going to be taking my video camera and a professional camera to take photos, and footage of "real life" moments and experiences of the people and families I meet. What did you do for your Christmas Vacation? I decided to join my family on a ski trip to Vermont to a place called Smugglers Notch! I probably experienced some of the best ski conditions in my life! The snow was amazing and spending time with family is always a HUGE treat for me! I would say that overall Smugglers is a place for families with children, because for us single folks there sure wasn't much to do except sip on wine or hot chocolate near an open fire after skiing all day. Which is nice but can get a little boring after a while. Usually my family makes the trip to Mt. St. Anne in Quebec Canada every year over New Years which is much more for singles as well as families. Anyway, as far as New Years goes...well I had the flu! Yup all night which seemed like days! One by one each and every one of my family members got the flu! Mine of course hit right on new years! OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW is what I say!!!!! Cheers to 2008!!! This year for New Years I'm going somewhere hot and sexy with some of my closest friends... maybe Australia... I've always wanted to go there:) xo Tanya

Halloween this year was very interesting! I was shooting Sell This House in Nashville TN this Halloween weekend. Our producer Kelly Lampson (the mummy/zombie) made sure we all brought costumes so we could hit the Nashville Halloween scene!! YUP…. Roger included! Of course at the beginning of the evening I was running late trying to adhere my long black press on nails and my fangs, so everyone patiently waited for me in the Hotel Lobby until I was finally ready to reveal my Vampire Witch Costume!! I really liked my costume but the whole night the fangs and the nails kept falling off so neither of them lasted long!! What a hysterical evening we all had! Its always fun to see people you’ve known for so long transform themselves with whatever they could find, buy, borrow, or make! I almost FELL OVER when I saw Roger!! I won’t comment, you can figure it out for yourself. Anyway, it was a night of laughs, and Halloween fun? I’m glad I got to spend this Halloween weekend with the Sell This House gang instead of ending up at another off the hook Hollywood Halloween Party! (That would have been fun too) Sometimes spending times like this with the people you spend most of your day to day time with makes the memories like this more special?
